Traditional Chinese methods for boosting fertility
Chinese traditional medicine insists that simplifying your life can tip the fertility balance in the right direction. This is because our bodies naturally possess mechanisms which have ensured the survival of our species for ages.
Couples are therefore advised to reduce stress several months before trying to conceive. This includes keeping reasonable work hours, reducing travel, eating healthy and regularly, exercising and spending time in nature to relax as well as developing a close relationships with your partner.
Some of these Chinese methods are corroborated by western researches which found that exercise (especially for overweight people) do give fast results in terms of improving sperm count and its quality as well as boosts your sex drive.
However, excessive exercise especially with cycling, jogging and mountain climbing can have negative effects on fertility. This may be as a result of scrotum movements or hormonal changes caused by stress.
Eat fertility Superfoods
Your fertility is directly linked to what you eat and drink. The nutritional content of what you eat determines the composition of your cell membranes, blood, hormones, tissue and organs. There are foods that boost fertility and others that are not so good if you want to get pregnant fast.
Foods for healthier sperms
Men who more eat fruits, vegetables, whole grains and lean meat have better sperm motility than those who eat more of processed foods like pizza, processed meat and other processed snacks.
Dairy: Full- fat dairy foods like milk, yoghurt and cheese are fertility boosters. They do a fantastic job at protecting against problems with ovulation and infertility. One or two servings a day of whole milk or other full-fat dairy foods, such as yogurt will help get your reproductive system up and doing and help in your quest to get pregnant fast.
Lean meat: Lean beef, lean chicken and lean turkey are parked with iron, which is fertility boosting.
Salmon, Sardines, herring and other fatty fish have loads of omega 3 fatty acids which help blood circulation to reproductive organs. This in turn takes good care of reproductive hormones that boost fertility.
Oysters have been eaten for ages as aphrodisiacs, to stimulate sexual desires. Do you know that oysters are also fertility superfoods? Oysters are packed with zinc, which is a nutrient crucial for getting pregnant. Zinc deficiency can result in the disruption in the menstrual cycle and slows down the production of good eggs.
Take highly potent fertility vitamins and minerals.
Certain vitamins and minerals boost your chances of getting pregnant.
Vitamin B-6 and Folic Acid: Vitamin B-6 and Folic Acid (B-9) are most essential for fertility. Whereas the chance of getting pregnant is improved by taking vitamin B-6, a low level of folic acid is associated with irregular ovulation. In men, low levels of folic acid is associated with poor sperm health.
Vitamin E: This vitamin has more to do with fertility in men. Men with low sperm counts have 65% less vitamin E than men with normal sperm counts.
Vitamin C: A research conducted on 13 men with low sperm counts found out that supplementation of vitamin C improved sperm concentration and sperm motility after two months of treatment.
Iron: inadequacy of iron leads to anemia and contributes to infertility. Iron builds the blood and also balances ovulation. Make sure you are getting adequate iron supplements especially if you have a history of anemia.
On the flip-side, taking more than 4 units of alcohol per week has negative effects on fertility. Same goes with taking more than three cups of coffee/caffeinated drinks per day and smoking.
Right timing of sexual intercourse
When is a woman most fertile?
The five days before a woman ovulates including the day she ovulates is referred to as the ‘fertile window’. These are days when a woman is most fertile!
Depending on the length of your menstrual cycle, your most fertile days to get pregnant are as follows:
|Length of menstrual Cycle||Most fertile days to get pregnant counting from the first day you see your period.|
|27 days||Days 8 through 13 of the cycle|
|28 days||Days 9 through 14 of the cycle|
|29 days||Days 10 through 15 of the cycle|
|30 days||Days 11 through 16 of the cycle|
|31 days||Days 12 through 17 of the cycle|
|32 days||Days 13 through 18 of the cycle|
|33 days||Days 14 through 19 of the cycle|
|34 days||Days 15 through 20 of the cycle|
|35 days||Days 16 through 21 of the cycle|
Having sex within the five days before you ovulate, or on the day you ovulate will give you the best chance of getting pregnant fast. This brings us to the topic of “Ovulation Timing”.
How to Calculate Ovulation
Since the menstrual cycle of women varies, you may purchase an ovulation predictor kit from the pharmacy, drug store or even online. It tells you exactly when you’re ovulating 36 to 48 hours before you ovulate.
Start having sex from the day when you get a positive reading on your ovulation predictor kit to the day of ovulation. This optimally increases your chances of getting pregnant.
Right timing to get pregnant
There is a right time to have sex to optimize your chances of impregnating your woman.
Roughly 12-14 days after the first day of your woman’s period is when she is likely to ovulate. Please note that because women are all different in their cycles, this estimate may not suffice. But you can purchase an ovulation predictor kit for a better accuracy.
Having intercourse 2 -3 days before ovulation will increase your chances of impregnating her.
